Patrick Kelly (September 24, 1954 – January 1, 1990) was an incredible African-American fashion designer who found great success in France. He was the first American to be admitted to the Chambre syndicale du prêt-à -porter des couturiers et des créateurs de mode, the prestigious governing body of the French ready-to-wear industry. Kelly always referenced humor, pop culture, and black folklore in his designs. His legacy has taught me so much and I’m sure he will inspire you as well.
